Add Watermark: Permissions & Troubleshooting

Generally Add Watermark needs following permissions to be granted on your device:

  • WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: Allows an application to read from and write to device or external storage.
  • WAKE_LOCK: Allows to keep device from sleeping during processing of multiple images.

Beginning in Android 6.0, users grant permissions to apps while the app is running, not when they install the app.

When you start the app for the first time, you should see a permission request dialog:

Once allowed it doesn’t appear any more. But when you for some reason don’t allow, the app will generate errors when trying to load a source image or save processed image. In this case just restart the app, it will show the permission request again. Press “Allow” and that’s it!

Sometimes the permission request doesn’t appear, instead you see a “Screen overlay detected” message. This is because of another app with a floating overlay like Facebook Messenger, Twilight, CleanMaster, or Lux, that blocks permission requests from other apps. In this case please try to close all such floating activities then launch Add Watermark again. It is supposed to request permission without the “Screen overlay detected” error popping up.

If it didn’t help, follow this step-by-step guide:

  1. I’m trying to add a free watermark on my pictures to be uploaded on Instagram. Once I select the image, the text, measures, etc., how can I Upload and share it? When can I edit, If necessary? I’m really lost!

    Thanks for your help

    1. When you are ready with adjusting, press save button and enable “Share after saving”. After processing you will be asked to select an app for sharing. Select Instagram, you will be forwarded to Instagram app! Another way would be to save watermarked image. Then open Instagram and select the saved image to upload it in standard way.
Please note, once uploaded you can’t edit the posted image!

  2. I really like the app and have been able to put content on pics and share to Instagram, but I still have not been able to figure out how to get my own logo into the app. That is the main reason I need the app so I need to figure this out asap. help

    1. Thank you for your question!
      1. Are you using the full version or the free one?
      2. What format has your logo (JPEG/PNG)?
      3. Did you already upload the logo into the device’s memory?

  3. hi, I love the app!.. but I can’t seem to get a photo from my SD card. I get the following error message:

Error while loading source image! Make sure image is available and access permission is allowed.

I went into the app from the phone settings and gave permission for the SD card. Also when the app first started up I gave it permission. Most of my photos are kept on my SD card. I know I can move them to the device, create the watermark, save them then move them back to the SD card, but I was really trying to avoid all those steps. Is there a fix for this?

    thanks so much!
    Sharon

  4. Great app. I noticed the creation time placeholder is not from the exif info. I would like to add the exact shoot time to my photos and I can’t

    1. Actually this should work exactly so. Maybe your exif data was manipulated by another program? Or maybe you do reprocess the same picture multipe times? If you want, you could send me a sample picture and I will examine its exif info.
